This was where Judy King's workshop was held. High Leigh Conference Centre in Hertfordshire.
It was a wonderful 5 days of dance, with people from Holland, Sweden and Denmark, as well as the UK contingent. I even met up with Kate from Hobart, who was here as well.
I'm hoping to dance with Judy again next year. I really enjoyed her choice of dances and her teaching style.
From here I flew down to Cornwall in a small propeller-type plane. It was a smooth one-hour flight, but with all the waiting around at Stanstead airport, I think it would have been better going by train.
The summer weather in Cornwall is just how I remember it. Cool, windy with lots of drizzle.
So it has been a case of looking for something to do indoors, which is a shame because Cornwall is all about the scenery. Went to Boscastle for the day and had a look around the Witchcraft Museum.
My friend Geraldine is a keen Morris dancer. They are a hardy lot and not put off by the weather.
This was an evening get-together as it is not dark now until about 10pm. The rain stopped but it was pretty cold, and wet underfoot, but they still danced outside both the local pubs in the little village of Charlestown.
They let the bystanders join in the last dance, so I got to have a jig.
We all finished up at the pub for a sing-along. Great fun, especially at the end when the guy on the accordian played Rolling Stones oldies. I knew the words to those!!
Day out at the Eden Project near St Austell. This was all built in a disused china clay pit (they used to mine the clay here). Now an excellent centre for garden lovers, with a tropical and a mediterranean bio-dome as well as the open air gardens.
I felt very much at home in their new Western Australian section in the mediterranean dome. They do a lot of educational stuff here too, for adults as well as school groups.
It was great to catch up with old friends. Such good energies, we even managed to persuade the sun to come out for a while.
An old tin mine |
week 2 in Cornwall I picked up a house sit in Feock. This is the view from the lounge, looking out across the estuary.
Just got TigerLilly the cat to look after, 2 budgies and some fish in an outdoor pond.
And this is the view just across the road. The sun has finally come out and it was 23 degrees yesterday. A positive heatwave!!
Off to Sussex tomorrow morning for more visiting and dancing.
